Inua Ellams is a poet, a writer, teacher and performer.
He has facilitated and taught on workshops and extended projects in a number of bodies across London including Primary and Secondary Schools, Theatres and Ideas Stores.
He has performed in a growing list of venues and theatres -The Albany & Stratford Theatre Royal - London, The Drum - Birmingham, The Tobacco Factory - Bristol.
He has guest performed at The Glastonbury Music, The Latitude Festival, Royal Festival Hall and was commissioned by the BBC's Politics Show to write about the African Diaspora,
and was featured on the show reading the commissioned work. He was the 2005 Farrago New Year Poetry Slam Champion and also London Slam Central's first Poetry Slam Champion,
and on national poetry day 2007 was featured on the Times Online as writer.
Inua is a part of the following collectives in the contemporary poetry canon:
NewBlood Four-poet-event-organisers, rasing the profile of young writers, based at the Poetry Café
The Urbaninan Quarter A four-writers-collective dispersed around the country, from London to Leeds and Nottingham
Malika's Poetry Kitchen Founded by Roger Robinson and Malika Booker)
The Onetaste Collective A ground breaking colective of Poets, Playwrites, Musicians and Visual Artists, Inua is also holds the position of head designer.
A Poem In Between People Group comprising of four poets, with a list of collbaorators, musicians and producers
Generation Txt Penned in the Margin's collective of next-gen British writers who toured the UK spring '07
In addition to his work in literature and live literature, Inua is a talented Graphic designer and artist. In this field, as well as working for clients such as Apples and Snakes,
The Mayor of London, Lambeth Council, publishing, clothing and record companies, he works closely with the poetry community;
designing to raise the profile of live literature.
